Fashion Inspiration at Melrose Trading Post

Melrose Trading Post is a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to unite communities through art, education and enterprise. Every Sunday from 9am-5pm, you can head to Melrose to check out vendors of just about anything. Vendors sell artisan goods, eclectic art and craft, vintage and newfound fashions, antique furniture and one-of-a-kind treasures. For a $3 admission fee, you can spend a whole afternoon lazily strolling through tents, listening to great local musicians and enjoying LA’s finest cuisine from food trucks. Melrose Trading Post is great for casual dates, perfect for families looking for Sunday fun, and the ideal spot to find the unique items on your Pinterest boards.

1. Denim on Denim on Denim

Everywhere I looked at Melrose Trading Post, I saw shoppers in denim. Whether that be jackets, skirts, shirts, and even accessories. There were countless tents set up devoted to the material. The great thing about Melrose Trading Post is you can buy a vintage denim jacket, which are SO in right now, for an affordable price and be on your merry stylish way.

2. Rocker/Graphic Tees

These rocker/graphic tees were overflowing in tents at Melrose Trading Post. The more distressed and ripped, the better. I think one of these tees paired with ripped jeans and sneakers or even a black jean skirt and heels would be AH-dorable.

3. Clueless Fashions

The Purrr Shop on Melrose was my personal favorite. Walking past, my eye was caught by the infamous clueless pattern on some of their dresses and skirts.  I HAD to buy from here. The store was filled with the wrap type top I am wearing above matched with skorts. You could choose to buy them in matching prints or colors, or mix and match like I did. I loved my outfit so much, I changed into it!

4. Statement Sunnies

I sincerely believe sunglasses can make or break an outfit. Everywhere I look, I keep seeng circle frame sunglasses in all different colors, especially in LA. They truly make a statement and are definitely necessary to protect your eyes from the hot SoCal sun.

5. Stacking Jewelry

The trend to stack jewelry is pretty ingenius. Now, I don’t have to pick between my favorite necklaces! I can stack them on top of each other and be soo chic. I love delicate gold jewelry for this trend as it is universally flattering and works for both casual outings and classy evenings. Melrose Trading Post had soo many tents dedicated to simple gold jewelry including rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Absolutely a huge trend for Summer 2017.
